Function: IT Operations and Support → Database Admin
- The Informix Database Administrator will be primarily experienced in Informix RDBMS with basic knowledge of Cloud concepts.
- They'll be involved in the administration of databases providing end to end support.
- Should have clear idea on industry SO practices like support release, incident, problem, DR drill and business continuity management.
- Should be able to patch, upgrade, and comply with audit controls.
- Should continuously improve database service quality to ensure stability and high availability.
- Should have knowledge on SSL and good to knowledge on BCV storage solution.
- Should be able to provide on-call support.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for production, development, and test databases.
- Be responsible for standard database administration duties: including, but not limited to, installation, patching, and change migration, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
- Build, upgrade, migrate, and maintain databases.
- Support patching and upgrades of Servers, databases, and appliances.
- Support disaster recovery events.
- Support Incident and Problem Management.
- Experienced with Informix failover and switchover concepts.
- Expertise in handling performance issues.
- Provides Informix database administration support for all lines of business applications and infrastructure applications.
- Provide technical support and coordination for core infrastructure components including platform, storage, backup, middleware and to a small extent on network as well.
- Communicate effectively with DBA team members, developers, and management.
- Responsible for maintaining services to agreed Service Levels through effective management and communication with all parties.
- Responsible for alerting the Leadership team, Service managers, and Business of any issues that impact production or result in reduced resilience during a production period.
- Is involved in the maintenance and regular testing of tier 0 disaster recovery plans.
- Ensuring that system failures are contained and resolved with minimum business impact and that steps are taken to manage failures in IT delivery.
- To join the Incident Management team during major incidents.
- To ensure timely preparation of ad-hoc reports as requested by management.
- Oversee changes to ensure minimal disruption and compliance with change processes.
- Provide timely participation in follow-up problem focus groups
