This role is part development and part support. ¿ Project management: o Carries out small to medium projects participating in all phases, monitors own progress against the project plan & advise of any deviation from plan. o To support multiple and concurrent projects without compromising quality or deadline commitments. o Work closely with Business Intelligence development Manager helping to identify conflicts or issues that will affect the delivery of projects to schedule. ¿ Data Services Solutions Design: o Enhance existing applications and deliver new applications that use the Data Warehouse as the foundation. Ensuring that the solutions are delivered on time and are fit for purpose. o Undertake detailed design (including analysis and proof of concept support as necessary), estimation, development and unit/integration testing. o Provide support and guidance to the rest of the BI team, ensuring developments underpinned by the Data Warehouse platform are appropriately designed and integrated in order to deliver optimized, fit for purpose solutions. o Ensure that all developments strictly adhere to stated change control procedures. ¿ Team Working: o Build strong working relationships with the other members of the BI Team. ¿ Problem Management / Fault Resolution: o Responsible for managing the resolution of level 1, 2 and 3 faults where assigned, to meet service levels. o Identifies & resolves complex BI Solution problems in a timely manner to meet service levels. o Take responsibility for supporting the BI team and the Business Intelligence development Manager in the active identification of solutions that will resolve faults at root cause. Projects skills and experience required: ¿ Experience of full project lifecycle of ETL development requirements gathering, analysis, detailed design, build, unit testing, integration testing, supporting UAT and deployment within Development Standards & Change Control processes. ¿ Experience of delivering data loads using SAP Business Objects Data Services 3.x/4.x Extract Transform and Load tool (formerly Business Objects Data Integrator (BODI)) and extraction of data from SAP. Ability to use Business Objects Data Services to load flat file data feeds. Extracting data from Oracle, SQL Server, AS400 (latter appreciated but not a must). ¿ Experience in calling database functions and procedures ¿ Experience of Oracle from an application development perspective, use of SQL tools such as SQL*Plus, SQL Developer or TOAD. ¿ Able to work well within the rest of the BI team. The Data Services resource will need to work with the Oracle Data Warehouse resource to ensure the data loads are performant. The Data Services resource will need to work with the Business Objects resource to ensure the business requirements for reporting are met. Support skills and experience required: ¿ Experience of supporting Production systems and resolving tickets within defined SLAs. Active identification of solutions that will resolve faults in SAP Data Services at root cause. ¿ Experience of monitoring data load performance and undertaking maintenance of the SAP Data Services production environments to ensure defined service levels are met. ¿ Experience of performance analysis and tuning in Data Services. Finding appropriate candidates for tuning and recommend what should be done. ¿ Experience of providing weekend support and planned changes. ¿ Able to work well within the rest of the BI team. The Data Services resource will need to work with both the Oracle Data Warehouse resource and the Business Objects resource to ensure any incidents are resolved in quick and effective manner.
